Christine in Petra, Jordan


Christine German

Christine German is a PhD candidate in political science and a program manager at the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University, where she develops and oversees unique program interventions based on empirical research to prevent radicalization.

Prior to her work at PERIL, Christine led international development projects focused on democracy, gender, youth, and countering violent extremism in the Middle East and North Africa for more than 15 years. Her academic work focuses on the ideological underpinnings of radicalization into extremism and the role that media, environment, and tradition play in that process.
